Consumer Advisory Committee (RCIL Friends Groups)
These groups meet monthly to learn and share information on disability issues in the community.  The Friends groups also meet on a regular basis for crafts, recreation, and social activities. 
 
ADA Training and Surveying
The staff at RCIL are available to do Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility surveys.  We also can provide disability etiquette training for your group, business, or organization.
 
Deaf Services
The Deaf Services program provides a variety of services to persons who are deaf or hard of hearing.  Some of these services include Video Interpreting (VIP) and Internet Captioning (I-CAP).
 
Personal Care Attendant Services (PCA)
Personal Care Attendant Services (PCA) are one or more attendants assisting a person with a disability with tasks which the individual would typically do for themselves in the absence of a disability.  The program also offers a self-directed attendant care option to encourage personal choice of providers and living arrangements.  These services are selected by the consumer to meet his or her specific needs.
 
Peer Specialist Program
Peers Empowering Each other Responsibly.  Trained-capable people with disabilities empowering peer consumers to develop and carry out their own independent living plan.  Once trained, Peer Specialists become RCIL part time staff.  As staff, Peer Specialists continue to grow and develop the working skills necessary for full time employment in the workforce arena.  Peer Consumers often desire to become Peer Specialists in order to continue their journey of empowerment and independence.
 
Employment Services
RCIL provides support services to help people achieve their employment goals.  Services may include setting work goals, enhancing work skills, developing a resume, and interview preparation.  We also offer benefits counseling to help people understand how employment may affect an individual's benefits.
 
Community Education
Community education and outreach is available to increase public awareness of living with a disability.  RCIL is committed to collaborative partnerships and networking within the community to expand the participation of persons with significant disabilities in services, programs, activities, resources, and facilities.

Technical assistance is also available to better understand state and federal laws that assist in the availability of services and employment for persons with disabilities.  For example, RCIL provides technical assistance to businesses when hiring and retaining employees with disabilities.  Assistance with understanding The Rehabilitation Act and Americans with Disabilities Act is also available to the public.
 
Other Services
RCIL offers other disability related services pertaining to transportation, housing, assistive technology, health care, recreation, and medical equipment.

Video telephones are available in the Johnson County and Topeka offices for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
